The main purpose of this site is to create a platform to support those who are preparing for their RACGP exams particularly the OSCE RACGP exams. In addition, we are here to promote Mental Health awareness and training, better self care for Doctors, and a biopsychosocial model of health for patients. We are independent of the RACGP.

Is depression end stage anxiety?
We all know that anxiety and depression often coexist, but I do wonder at times whether “depression” can be framed as “end stage anxiety”. When life does not meet up with our values/expectations, or our needs are not met, stress and anxious mood kick in.
We then go into flight or flight mode, and if chronic, may lead to powerless, hopelessness, fatigue, and “burnout”.
When our care factor approaches zero, our anxiety is alleviated but our depressed mood sets in as we lose meaning and purpose.
Many folks we see are at this junction or “late stage” perhaps, where they oscillate between anxious and depressed mood.
With this in mind, in order to prevent depression, we must help folks manage their stress and anxious mood very very early on.......
