Helping our patients and their children with emotional literacy

Schools are great at teaching our kids on how to influence outside objective facts, data, and “things” so that they can achieve their goals.

They are good at teaching our kids on how to learn and remember objective facts, data, and “things” in order to recreate and improve outcomes and goals.

They are good at teaching our kids on how to influence and work with the feelings of others in order to socialize, get along, collaborate, and achieve their goals.

But they may not be so effective at teaching our kids to understand self, influence their own internal feelings and values in order to impact meaningful change, and be happy or content.

It’s no surprise that we have a mental health crisis.

I wonder as Family Docs, whether we can fill this gap over time.
