Helping patients to find their inner compass

I often see folks who have been raised up with so much “outer compass” orientation that they forget who they are and their values. They are less aware and non trusting of their “inner compass”.

With more focus on their “outer compass”, they can move too far away from their “inner compass”. It can become imbalanced and bring them much unhappiness and inner conflict.

So how can we help?

1. We validate and acknowledge their experiences.

2. We help them to work towards more self as context, mindfulness of thoughts and feelings, more presence, more defusion, more awareness of their values, define them clearly, and take value based actions that are workable in their current context.
