Helping patients differentiate between defusion and detachment/dissociation


In counseling, it’s can be important to help patients to differentiate between defusion and intense detachment/dissociation. One is more helpful than the other.

It’s like when I first learnt to use the clutch in a manual car.

There is a sweet spot where we can use the clutch to “shift gears”.

Too much in and we are unable to shift the gears.

To much out and the car will stall.

I wonder if you know what I mean.
