Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance Commitment Therapy…. What’s the key difference

In Cognitive Behavioural Therapy CBT, we are more focused on the logical thinking, thought and behavioural level.   It has a more objective and thinking flavour to it.

In Acceptance Commitment Therapy ACT, we are more focused on the abstract feeling and value level.  It’s more about working with the feelings and values rather than just the logical thinking.

Some folks will resonate more with CBT.

Some more with ACT.

The reality is, often both are required.   We do whatever works for the patient and their context.
