When assessing language and literacy, we try to assess whether the problem is in the receptive comprehension, in the expressive, or both.
When we try to assess emotion literacy, same thing.
Is the problem in the “receptive” or the “expressive” domain?
How well does this person interpret and decode feelings and emotions?
And…
How well does this person use the appropriate feelings or values to take congruent action in a particular context?
Not easy for many of the folks that we see. There may be problems in both domains leading to relational and mood difficulties.
