In counseling, we may see error in “surface thoughts/beliefs”, or error in “deeper core beliefs”.
If it is a simple error in “surface thoughts/beliefs”, then giving patients new accurate facts may solve this problem simply.
If it is an error in “deeper core beliefs”, then giving new accurate facts may not solve the problem.
Core beliefs are “installed” in the subconscious mind and accurate facts do not necessary “uninstall” them.
To uninstall, defusion and “distancing” from those core beliefs, and being mindful of them are often required.
That’s the hard part.
