Being “in our heads” i.e. introversion, is great for thinking about the past and future, but it needs to be balanced with our “outside head experiences” i.e. extroversion.
In order to “extrovert”, we need to be engaged in our 5 senses and use those to anchor us in the here and now. There are healthy ways and unhealthy ways.
I love prescribing “incidental 5senses mindfulness exercises” for our patients. It’s similar to prescribing incidental exercises.
For me, cooking outside in the garden is very relaxing and meditative.
What’s yours?
How do you anchor in the here and now on a daily basis?
What do you prescribe for your patients?
