"The current guidelines are that asymptomatic gallstones do not require treatment. They do not require referral or treatment. Obviously about 5% or so will become symptomatic each year."

I was speaking to a surgeon at one of the conference at the Wesley and they would consider removing the Gallbladder in army personel with gallstones even if it is asymptomatic. It probably makes sense as you do not want a "gallstone attack" in the middle of a war zone.....even if it is only a 5% chance/year......
